April 2015

Hello fellow dog lovers

April has been a really busy month for us, we’ve had a huge number of dogs pass though our doors, rehomed and adopted many having finalised the adoption paperwork for lots of dogs that were in foster care with a view to adopt. We’ve still got a waiting list of dogs to come in, so as ever we need volunteers and foster carers, if you think this could be you please do get in touch, it’s very rewarding , I’ve had several dogs come and stay before move onto their new lives and families. It’s especially nice when you get to keep in touch with the families as we’ve been lucky enough to do with several of our former fosters, we get to see photos and hear lovely stories about their new lives.

We’ve all been working hard on our Family Festival 2015, but I really have to thank Damon for the amount of work he’s put in especially in securing the fly past of the Spitfire. The change of venue hasn’t reduced the work as we’ve not got to work on a completely new layout, but we’ve got a really amazing line up of music and activities for you to take part in or watch. There’s camping available as well as plenty of parking, so no excuse not to join us and make a long day of it. For a full list of times, acts and all the info, please see my website. We’d also like to say a big thanks to E & SJ Walpole for lending us a curtain sided trailer for our stage as well as insuring it especially, this will really add something special to our day.

Yesterday Mel, Damon and I went up to Boston to meet with the really lovely team at Laughing Dog about sponsoring Teddy. As the site is for food production we couldn’t take Teddy with us but with several videos and photographs the team quickly fell in love with his droopy ears and formerly matted fur. We came away with lots of food for Teddy, some gorgeous Laughing Dog shopping bags for us to sell so we can raise funds and lots of publicity in the pipeline for the rescue, Teddy and Laughing Dog in the pipeline. It’s a genuinely good food, otherwise Teddy wouldn’t be doing so well on it and we’re thrilled to be working with a local, independent company for our mutual benefit.

April also saw EGSR join Buy Local Norfolk. As a director of both, I’m spending so much time promoting Buy Local Norfolk, it makes sense for me to promote EGSR at the same time, I love attending events and fundraising and with so many different places I can drag our pop up banner to more people will hear about us and join in the fun. We also have a great connection with Buy Local Norfolk members Traded Network who  are supporting EGSR through charitiy.org.uk, running networking and training events raising money for us. We now have Abate Pest Management, Anglia Internet, Fleximed, The Zap Experience, PT Lock and Safe, P&V Quality Cars, etc East Anglia Ltd, The Guild Social Economy Services CIC, Silverline Limousines and Wedding Car Hire, Norfolk Pet Foods Ltd, Anglia Oven Care, We are Marmalade Insurance and Resurspec Construction Services Ltd supporting us please take a look at the chariti.org.uk website to find out more about these ethical businesses. Our thanks go out to those businesses.

Well the sun is shining an there’s a field behind my house just begging for a gaggle of labradors and GSDs and GSD crosses to charge round it so I’m off. ‘Til next time – Sarah x
